Flint, lighter, matches, and fire starter: a fire-starting kit is only useful if it’s dry and within reach. This case was designed by AF Knifeworks for exactly that purpose. The interior has each item’s place marked in relief (FLINT, LIGHTER, MATCHES, FIRE STARTER), with no dividers to take up space.
The lid closes over a rubber O-ring and locks with two cam latches that snap into place and open with a flick of the finger. The hinge is recessed into the back wall, and the lid stays open at about 120°. On the underside, there’s a hidden eyelet for attaching a paracord or a carabiner.
It’s 3D-printed in the workshop using PETG and is just the right size to fit in a backpack pocket. The Hand-Crank Fishing Reel also fits inside.
Keep the O-ring free of sand and dirt; a thin layer of silicone sealant helps seal and close it. Do not leave it in the sun inside the car.
