Restoration and repair

AF Knifeworks

A good knife can last a lifetime. Sometimes it just needs a second chance.

At the AF Knifeworks workshop I don’t only work on the knives I make. I also restore knives from other makers: that family knife with a broken handle, the forgotten blade that has gathered rust, or the sheath that no longer holds as it should.

Every piece is handled by hand, with the same care I give my own knives.

Quote after seeing the knife

In most cases I can give you a quote from photos and a good description. But it is not always possible to see the problem from a distance: a hidden crack, a heavily worn blade, or a handle that may be hiding rust inside.

In those cases, I will ask you to send or bring the knife to the workshop. Once I have looked at it, I will send you a quote and only go ahead if you accept it. If you don’t, I will return the knife just as it arrived, and you only pay the return shipping.

How it works

  1. Fill in the quote request: choose the service, describe the problem and add photos of the knife (front, back and a close-up of the damaged area).
  2. You receive a reply with a quote or, if needed, a request to see the knife.
  3. If you accept the quote, send the knife well packed and with a tracking number, or bring it to the workshop in person.
  4. I do the work and let you know when it is ready.
  5. The knife comes back to you, ready for many more years of work.
