Handcrafted Nature
Every AF Knifeworks knife and axe is handmade, one piece at a time. Because each item passes through human hands rather than a factory line, no two pieces are perfectly identical. Minor variations — in wood grain, handle color, stitching, or blade finish — are a natural result of the handcrafting process, not a manufacturing defect. We consider these small imperfections part of what makes a handmade piece genuinely yours rather than a mass-produced copy.
What to expect
- Slight variations in color, grain pattern, or texture between the photos on our site and the item you receive
- Small, natural marks or tool marks consistent with hand-forging and hand-finishing
- Minor asymmetries in handle shaping or sheath stitching that don't affect function or safety
If you receive an item with a defect that goes beyond normal handmade variation — a structural flaw, a functional issue, or damage in transit — please contact us; we stand behind our craftsmanship and will make it right.
Materials & Care
- Carbon steel blades will patina and can rust if left wet or dirty. Dry and lightly oil the blade after use, and never store it in a damp sheath.
- Stainless steel (14C28N) blades resist corrosion better but still benefit from drying after use.
- Wood and hybrid resin/wood handles are natural materials that can shift slightly with humidity and temperature over time; occasional oiling helps preserve them.
- Leather sheaths will develop a patina with use and should be kept away from prolonged moisture.
- None of our knives are dishwasher- or machine-wash-safe. Hand wash and dry immediately.
Safety
- All blades are shipped sharp and ready to use. Handle with care during unboxing and always cut away from your body.
- Not a toy. Keep out of reach of children, and supervise any use by minors.
- Use each tool only for its intended purpose (e.g., kitchen knives for food preparation, bushcraft knives for outdoor/camp use) — misuse may damage the product and is not covered by warranty.
Product Photos
Photos are taken of actual production pieces where possible, but due to the handmade nature of each item and differences in screen display, the exact item you receive may vary slightly from what's pictured.
